Thanks. But No Thanks.

Sooooo.....

I had been purposely silent since my last post.  Just as the new year arrived, I found myself up for a pretty sweet position at a Catholic school.  I was absent from here because I didn't want to say anything about that situation publicly.  Though teaching in a Catholic school isn't exactly my ideal goal, it was something too good to pass to up.  It was almost as if the stars lined up and this spot was made just for me.  I was really excited about the opportunity, but I just couldn't share the details until the whole process was over.

And it is now over...  But I didn't get the job.  The powers that be told us (the final candidates) that we would be notified one way or another on Wednesday (yesterday).  As the day progressed without a phone call, I knew that I wasn't chosen.  In the late afternoon I received a "Thanks, but no thanks." email from one of the administrators at the school.  I was bummed for about 30 seconds, but life goes on.

The good part about being approached for this position was that my current employer was forced to stop and take notice of me.  My boss and coworkers were very excited for my opportunity, but they also wanted to hold on to me.   Consequently, I got chosen for an opening at my current school that I will be taking on in addition to my regular duties.  My work load has increased a ton, but the additional salary is a blessing.
I still will be looking for a permanent, tenured position, but until that comes along, I am more than satisfied right where I am.

********************************
On a totally unrelated note, I am doing 2 photo-a-day projects over on instagram.  One is just the regular project 365 (366 this year!) and the other is following a predetermined subject each day.  It is so easy to keep up since it is all done on the iphone.  If you are an iphone user and have instgram come follow me (kruchal).  It is a free app, so if you don't have it, get it!

Now that you are caught up with my news, what is new and exciting in your universe?

That's great that your current job took noticed and sweetened the deal to keep you around! There is absolutely nothing exciting going on with me this week. lol. Other than being so sick! I'm looking forward to being off the next 4 days and relaxing!

I think it's awesome you were able to leverage the job opening at the Catholic school with your current employer. It's a rare chance to hear how much they really appreciate you ... and lucky you, you wound up with more responsibility at your current job. Sounds like considering this job change worked out for the best, even though you didn't get the position!

Sorry for not getting the Catholic school position as I'm sure you would look awesome in the little uniforms, but glad your current job paid you some attention ;-)

Sometimes the realization that an employer values you enough to consider you for a position is enough to get other options in motion - congratulations on your new duties!

Having an employer (or anyone, really) take notice and make your job more intere$ting is a great thing.

If I had a phone that did all of those terrific things (take pictures AND post them to the internet with minimal effort) I might join a challenge like that. As it is, I'm barely making it through January!
