Odds and Ends

Well, I was violated. 3 different people confirmed that I only wanted a facial and not a massage. So since when does a facial begins with someone telling you to strip down and get face down on the table? Blah. I know it is supposed to be relaxing, but it has the total opposite effect on me. I don't like to be rubbed and touch by a stranger. I endured most of the treatment, but I spoke up when the lady tried to rub my feet. My feet have nothing to do with my face. Sure my skin is soft and my face is clean today, but I am not sure it was worth the torture.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I ordered boots. They arrived and they didn't fit. The calf was a little tight and I sort of had a muffin top under my knee. And the foot part was way too big. But they were really cute. I returned them to the J. Crew in the mall and they are apparently on sale now on the website. (For some reason jcrew.com will not let me link the site or copy the picture of the boots, but go there and check them out!)

So I am still on the search for the perfect tall, classic, flat riding boot.

Of course, I have to give a shout out to the Veterans today. I am in awe of the men and women who are willing to sacrifice so much for this country. Thank you all for your service.

When does a facial turn into a massage? I guess some people wotuld like that but if you don't they should resect your wishes.

I don't like getting facials or massages for that exact same reason. In fact, I can barely stand pedicures!

that is weird...i can't believe that they gave you a massage instead. i love them, but i guarantee you that if someone started doing it and that's NOT what i was wanting....ugh, that would make me crazy

Doc - It was misery. I do understand having to remove my shirt. That party is pretty normal, but this was hellish.

Hilly - I hate pedicures, but I suffer through. But I just couldn't deal with this lady rubbing my feet. YUCK.

Just me - They did my face very nicely, but it was the "relaxation" rubbing that was unnecessary. If I go back, I will have to be assertive and make sure it is just "neck up".

I am a HUGE fan of the Aerosoles brand of boot because they offer the extendable calf zipper (a second, short zipper on the inside of the boot) that accommodates any size calf.

The reason I can't go for massages and stuff like that is because I can't stand to have some stranger touching me. Except lap dances of course. That's different. haha ;-)

I love massages but I would have to be mentally prepared for one. That surprise thing would piss me off.

I will hug my Veteran for you today!

It's almost impossible for me to find a boot that will fit my calf!! The ones that do fit are usually cheap looking. If you ever find a flat riding boot please tell me because I would buy it in a second!

It is funny that you are looking for flat boots. I was looking on line last week for a high boot with a heel and all I could find were boots with no or very small heel.

We need to switch search engines. :-)

Thanks for reminding me today is Veteran's Day. Since I don't get the day off from work and don't read the newspaper or watch the news before leaving for work, I would've otherwise forgotten.

Zappos for the boots! And I'll let somebody rub me any day. I mean, I love massages. Sorry your facial wasn't what you wanted it to be.

II have to agree. A facial does not equal a full body massage. Being one who has studied and has had massages, there is a big difference. One the massage therapist should have asked you what you wanted and that should have been it. I think they were just trying to sell their service since you got the full spa package. Never a good idea if they don't explain upfront what you are getting. You should feel comfortable with the service and people and if that is not the fact, they should have not proceeded. Sorry this was not a good experience for you. It really should have been.

i never had anything but a mani/pedi, & i hated that! for the pedi, they put you in a chair with shiatsu massage, & i had them turn THAT off! it was nothing but irritating! lol!

Tell me they didn't try to hold your hand!!! OMG! Hmmmm.... seems like a facial would mostly involve your face, but what the heck do I know.

That is so weird that they did a full body massage for a facial. I'd definitely be freaked out.

Happy Veterans Day!

I see a chiropractor regularly so I'm used to be being touched. I also think I'd love massages. Only issue that I might have is that I'm very ticklelish at times.
