I have a friend who is a porn star. Well, in all honesty "star" might be an exaggeration, but she is a pornographic actress and as per IMBD she has been in over 50 films. I have even seen a few of her films - only because she is in them, of course.
I met her about 5 years ago in a kickboxing class and we hit it off immediately. She introduced herself to me as Erin (her birth name, she has a different stage name) and she told that she was a model/actress. I think it was over a year after becoming friends that Erin told me she did adult films. I was shocked, but not disgusted or offended by her confession. I really liked Erin and whatever she did professionally didn't matter.
Erin is a pretty "normal" looking person. She dresses rather conservatively and does not have breast implants or anything. She rarely wears make up and goes with more of the "flower child" look than what I would consider a porn star look. She doesn't advertise what she does for a living, but I have been with her several times when she been recognized by a fan.
I was telling a colleague about my friendship Erin earlier this week, He was revolted by the fact that would be friends with someone like Erin. He said that having Erin in my house was "dangerous" and "disgusting".
He was so upset that I started thinking. Is it really so horrible? Yes, she does porn, but she doesn't hurt anyone. Other than the sex on film gig, her values are are pretty similar to mine. For heaven's sake she even goes to church every Sunday. LOL. I really don't think having a friendship with her is wrong.

I agree with you, Karen. So what? It's not like she's in the schools trying to convert young children. It's just another in a long line of sexual hangups Americans have.

I agree. It's what's on the inside that counts. Lawyers are slimey but people are still friends with them......Your coworker is being rediculous.

I don't see the big deal here either. I went to college with Kobe Tai. She probably wouldn't remember me now cause it's been many years since I saw her. But, I don't look down on her or anything like that over what she chose to do after college.

I love when everyone agrees that I am right. Her work is such a non-issue to me that even my grandma knows what she does for a living.

I don't think it should be an issue, either. We have so many hang ups, but it still surprises me when people say things like your co-worker did. She could be doing a lot worse things than making adult movies.
Isn't it worse to be friends with someone who is dishonest in their life? Like a friend who asks you to lie for them so they can cheat on their spouse?
Disgusting is liars, cheats, abusers...not adult industry workers.
You friend needs an attitude adjustment. I think it's great that you are friends with her. We all have to make a living somehow and if she's good at it, then good for her!

No, seriously. I'm with the others. I have a former female friend who started doing porn. She had to move away because of other people making her life hard about it. Never heard from her again... still miss her though. She was sweet and really hot. I believe she only did that one movie though.
